Decatur County, Georgia
Decatur County is in southwest Georgia, right on the Florida border. Bainbridge, the county seat, sits prettily on the Flint River. The county is known for its rich agricultural heritage, especially in peanuts and cotton.
Lake Seminole, formed by a dam on the Flint, is a haven for fishing and boating. Decatur County’s history goes back to the early 1800s, with some beautiful antebellum homes still standing.
The annual Bainbridge Riverside Run brings in runners from all over. There is abundant hunting and bird-watching opportunities here. Despite its rural character, Decatur County is working hard to attract new industries.
