Jackson County, South Dakota

Jackson Location Map South Dakota

Jackson County is out in southwest South Dakota. The Badlands National Park spills into the county’s western edge. Minuteman Missile National Historic Site Visitor Center has Cold War exhibits.

Cattle outnumber people by a long shot in Jackson County. It’s not exactly a tourist hotspot, but that’s part of its charm.

Kadoka is the county seat and it’s about as small-town as it gets. There’s a rawness to Jackson County. It’s not for everyone, but those who love it wouldn’t have it any other way.
