Jefferson County, Florida

Jefferson Location Map Florida

You can find Jefferson County in Florida’s Big Bend region, just east of Tallahassee. Monticello, the county seat, looks like it’s straight out of a Southern novel. Live oaks draped with Spanish moss line the streets.

The county is full of plantations and historic homes. You won’t find many beaches here, but there’s plenty of natural beauty. The Wacissa River is good for kayaking and spotting wildlife. Letchworth-Love Mounds Archaeological State Park showcases Native American history.

Jefferson County has lots of excitement. It’s the kind of place where people still sit on their front porches in the evening. The pace is slow, but it’s old Florida with a side of history.
