Kittitas County, Washington

Kittitas County is in central Washington, stretching from the Cascade Mountains to the Columbia River. Yakima River cuts right through the heart of Kittitas County.
Ellensburg, the county seat, is home to Central Washington University. It’s a college town with a cowboy twist. The Ellensburg Rodeo is a big deal around here. But don’t think it’s all dusty plains.
The western part of the county is green and mountainous. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are popular in winter. Summers bring hikers and campers. The county has a split personality. Part Old West, part New West. It works, somehow.
