Lee County, Iowa

Lee Location Map Iowa

Lee County occupies Iowa’s southeastern tip, forming part of the state’s border with Illinois and Missouri. It’s the only Iowa county with two county seats: Fort Madison and Keokuk.

The Mississippi River hugs its eastern edge. The county’s name honors a New York Land Company. With about 33,000 residents, Lee County mixes industry and agriculture.

Shimek State Forest covers over 9,000 acres in the county’s west. Lee County has its fair share of challenges, but the people here are tough. At the end of the day, it’s a place where folks look out for each other and take pride in their little corner of Iowa.
