Maury County, Tennessee

Maury County is in Middle Tennessee, about an hour south of Nashville. They call Maury County the “Dimple of the Universe”. The county has some serious president cred. James K. Polk’s ancestral home is here. You can tour it.
Columbia, the county seat, is known as the “Mule Capital of the World.” Lots of nicknames going on here. They have a Mule Day parade every year. Historic downtown Columbia’s nice. But there’s modern industry too.
The Duck River runs through the county. It’s one of the most biodiverse rivers in North America. Pretty cool, right? There’s a nice mix of old and new here. General Motors has a big plant here in Spring Hill. It’s a place that honors its past but looks to the future.
