Powder River County, Montana

In the southeastern corner of Montana, Powder River County is about as wild and rugged as it gets. Broadus is the county seat, which is along Highway 212.
This is cowboy country, pure and simple. The landscape is a mix of rolling prairies and steep badlands, carved by the Powder River and its tributaries.
You won’t find fancy restaurants or shopping malls here. What you will find is some of the best hunting in the state. The annual county fair is a must-see if you’re around in August. It’s small, but it’s got lots of heart.
