Richland Parish sits in northeastern Louisiana, about an hour’s drive east of Monroe. It’s farm country. Miles of cotton, corn, and soybeans stretch to the horizon.
Bayous and creeks crisscross the land. The parish was founded in 1868, named for its rich soil. Nowadays, about 20,000 people call it home.
Rayville is the biggest town and parish seat. Folks here are proud of their history. You can see it in the old courthouse and restored depot downtown.
