Rock County sits on Wisconsin’s southern border with Illinois. Janesville and Beloit are the biggest cities, each with their own vibe. The Rock River flows through the county, giving plenty of spots for fishing and boating.
You’ll find a mix of industry and agriculture here. Beloit College is a private liberal arts college you can find here. The county has some cool parks, like Beckman Mill County Park with its restored gristmill.
Rock County’s been hit hard by factory closures, but it’s working on reinventing itself. There’s several museums and historic sites. The Rotary Botanical Gardens in Janesville are worth a visit. Winters can be tough, but summers are perfect for outdoor festivals and farmers markets.
