Boone County sits in northern Illinois, not far from Chicago. Belvidere is the county seat. It’s a mix of farmland and growing suburbs. The Kishwaukee River winds through here and has good for fishing and canoeing.
Corn and soybeans cover much of the land. But there’s industry too as a big auto plant employs lots of folks. Boone County also has many parks and preserves, perfect for those looking to enjoy the outdoors.
The county is named after Daniel Boone. It was formed in 1837 out of Winnebago County. Old barns and new subdivisions sit side by side so it’s definitely a place in transition.
