San Juan County, New Mexico

San Juan County is in the Four Corners region of New Mexico. That’s right. It’s the only place in the U.S. where you can be in four states at once. How cool is that? Aztec is the county seat but Farmington is the biggest city.
Farmington is an energy town. Oil, gas, and coal have shaped its history. The Animas River runs through town. It’s a haven for rafters and kayakers. Ancient Puebloan ruins are here. Chaco Canyon is nearby. It’s mind-blowing.
The Navajo Nation covers part of the county, whose culture adds richness to the community. This place has a rugged beauty. Shiprock, a massive volcanic rock formation, dominates the skyline. It’s sacred to the Navajo.
