Apache County is in northeast Arizona, bordering New Mexico and Utah. It’s a big county, covering over 11,000 square miles. But it only has about 71,000 people.
The Navajo Nation takes up much of the county. Window Rock, the Navajo capital, is here. Many people still speak Navajo as their first language. The county is mostly rural, with wide open spaces and red rock landscapes.
Canyon de Chelly National Monument is a major attraction, with ancient cliff dwellings. Also, don’t forget that Four Corners Monument, where four states meet, is in Apache County.
