Tooele County, Utah

Tooele County is out west of Salt Lake City, stretching clear to the Nevada border. This place is big. Really big. We’re talking Great Salt Lake Desert big. It’s mostly empty space, but that’s part of the charm.
The Bonneville Salt Flats are here. It’s perfect for speed demons and photographers. Tooele is the main town, with a surprising amount going on. Military history? Check out the Utah Fire Museum.
How about some nature? Head to the Oquirrh Mountains. It’s pronounced “oak-er,” by the way. The county has its quirks, but that’s what makes it interesting. Just don’t expect any palm trees.
