Johnston County is tucked away in south-central Oklahoma. It’s named after Douglas H. Johnston, a governor of the Chickasaw Nation.
Tishomingo is the county seat, a town with a rich Native American heritage. This place has some stories to tell. It’s where the Chickasaw National Capitol once stood.
The Blue and Washita Rivers run through here. Each one is a favorite spot for locals and visitors. If you’re into fishing, camping, or anything on the water, there’s also Lake Texoma in the southwest.
