Barrow County, Georgia
As part of Georgia’s Piedmont region, Barrow County sits northeast of Atlanta. It’s close enough to feel the city’s pull, but far enough to keep its rural charm. Winder serves as the county seat, a town that’s seen its share of growth lately.
Barrow County is changing fast. New subdivisions pop up where cotton fields used to be. It’s a place in transition, caught between its rural roots and suburban future. The county is named after David C. Barrow Jr., a former University of Georgia chancellor.
Fort Yargo State Park has hiking and camping. Farming still happens here, but suburbia is creeping in. The Mulberry River winds through the county. It’s a popular spot for kayaking when the water’s up.
