Bleckley County, Georgia
Bleckley County is a small patch of central Georgia you might have missed. Cochran serves as the county seat, a town located at the intersection of Highways 23 and 26.
The county is young by Georgia standards, carved out of Pulaski County in 1912. It’s named after Logan Bleckley, a former chief justice of Georgia’s Supreme Court. The Ocmulgee River forms a piece of the western border, right next to the wildlife management area of the same name.
Peanuts, cotton, and timber keep the economy going. Middle Georgia State University has a campus here, bringing some life to Cochran. Bleckley County minds their business and lend a hand when needed. You won’t find much excitement, but you will find some peace.
