Missouri Counties

Madison County sits in the southeastern part of the state in the he Ozarks region. Mark Twain National Forest covers the central part.

Maries County is pure Ozark. You’ll find it in central Missouri, where the hills start to roll. It’s quiet here. Peaceful.

Marion County hugs the Mississippi River in northeast Missouri. The state of Illinois is just nextdoor to the east.

McDonald County is in the southwest corner of Missouri. It borders both Arkansas and Oklahoma with its hills, hollers, and clear streams.

Mercer County is up at the top of Missouri, bordering Iowa to the north. Princeton is the county seat. It’s small but lively.

Miller County sits in the geographic center of Missouri. The sparkling waters of Lake of the Ozarks draw visitors here in central Missouri.

The Bootheel of Missouri is home to Mississippi County. It’s flanked by the Mississippi River to the east and Ohio to the northeast.

Central Missouri’s Moniteau County is a blend of rolling hills and fertile valleys. The name is from a Native American word meaning “spirit”.

Monroe County is in the northeastern part of Missouri, in the heart of Mark Twain country. Rolling hills and prairie lands define the area.

Montgomery County is east of the state’s center. It straddles between prairie and forest. The Missouri River forms its southern border.

Central Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks region includes Morgan County, where lake life is part of its rural vibe. Versailles is the county seat.

New Madrid County is located down in Missouri’s Bootheel. New Madrid is the county seat and is on Interstate 55 and the Mississippi River.

Newton County is in the southwest corner of the state. George Washington Carver grew up here and they’ve got a national monument to prove it.

Nodaway County is in the northwest of Missouri next to Iowa. Maryville’s the biggest town and home to Northwest Missouri State University.

Oregon County is in the south-central part of the state, right up against the Arkansas border. Alton serves as the county seat.
