Missouri Counties

In the northeastern part of Missouri, you’ll find Adair County. Kirksville is the county seat, which is home to Truman State University.

Northwest Missouri is home to Andrew County. The Missouri River forms its western border with the state of Kansas.

Atchison County sits at the very northwest corner of Missouri. The Missouri River forms its western border, separating it from Nebraska.

Audrain County is in the middle of northeast Missouri, about halfway between St. Louis and Kansas City. Mexico is the county seat.

Southwest Missouri is home to Barry County. This is a place where the Ozarks show off their beauty. Cassville serves as the county seat.

Barton County is in the heart of Missouri’s prairie lands. It’s where the Great Plains start to roll that’ll make you want to snap a photo.

Bates County sits on the western edge of Missouri, right along the Kansas border. Farming is the main industry here.

Benton County sits in the heart of Missouri. Harry Truman Reservoir is the defining water feature here. It’s a place for water lovers.

Southeast Missouri is home to Bollinger County. Farming is still a way of life here, with corn and soybeans as major crops.

Boone County is the heart of Missouri, located in the center. It’s home to Columbia that home to the University of Missouri.

Buchanan County sits in the northwest corner of Missouri. St. Joseph is its biggest city, once a jumping-off point for settlers heading west.

Butler County is down in the Bootheel of Missouri. It’s mostly flat, with rich soil that’s great for farming. Poplar Bluff is the county seat.

Caldwell County is in northwest Missouri. Farming is popular. Rolling hills, corn fields, and grazing cattle are the name of the game here.

Cedar Creek forms the western border of Callaway County. It’s in the middle of the state, just across the river from Jefferson City.

Lake of the Ozarks dominates Camden County. It’s in central Missouri, a favorite vacation spot for folks from all over.
