Nevada Counties

Carson City, the capital of Nevada, is in the western part of the state, just east of Lake Tahoe. The city has some serious Old West history.

Churchill County lies out in the high desert of western Nevada. Fallon is the county seat and is the biggest town around here.

Clark County is where the Mojave Desert stretches out under a blazing sun. It’s in the southern tip of Nevada next to Arizona and California.

Douglas County sits in western Nevada, right on the California border. It’s where the Sierra Nevada mountains meet the high desert.

Elko County sits in the far corner of northeastern Nevada, bordering Idaho and Utah. It’s the second largest county in Nevada.

Esmeralda County lies way down in the southwest corner of Nevada. It’s one of the least populated counties in the entire United States.

Eureka County sits in the middle of Nevada. It’s a place that feels like stepping back in time. The population is extremely sparse.

Humboldt County sprawls across northwestern Nevada, a vast expanse of high desert and mountain ranges. Winnemucca is the county seat.

Lander County is in the heart of Nevada. It’s a place where the Old West still lives and breathes. Battle Mountain serves as the county seat.

Lincoln County is in southeastern Nevada, next to Utah. It’s a place that redefines “off the beaten path.” It’s huge. And empty.

Lyon County is just east of Carson City. It’s equal parts Old West and new frontier. Yerington serves as the county seat.

Mineral County sits in western Nevada, next to California. Hawthorne is the county seat and has the largest ammunition depot in the world.

Stretching from just outside Las Vegas all the way to the middle of nowhere, Nye County is the third-largest county in the lower 48 states.

Pershing County lies in the heart of northern Nevada. It’s home to the Burning Man festival. Lovelock is the county seat, located along I-80.

Storey County is the smallest county in Nevada. Located just east of Reno, it’s home to Virginia City, once the richest place in America.
