Cavalier County, North Dakota

Cavalier County occupies the northeastern corner of North Dakota. It’s named after Charles Cavalier, who was an early settler. Langdon is the county seat and has a post office that’s been in operation since 1886.
Agriculture dominates the landscape. Canola fields paint the prairie yellow in summer. Wheat, barley, and flax also shape the region’s rural character.
The county has a strong Icelandic heritage. You can learn about its history at the Cavalier County Museum. Locals enjoy recreational opportunities at Mt. Carmel Dam. The Frost Fire Summer Theatre brings culture to the countryside.
