Divide County, North Dakota

Divide County is up in the northwest corner of North Dakota. It’s right on the Montana and Canadian borders. Crosby is the county seat, a small town of about 1,000 people.
Oil is a big deal here. The county sits on part of the Bakken Formation. That’s brought some economic ups and downs over the years. But farming is still important too with wheat and canola being major crops.
The county has its share of wide-open spaces. You can see for miles on a clear day. Divide County has an interesting name. It is likely a reference to when the county was “divided” from Williams County.
