Custer County, South Dakota

Custer County is in the Black Hills region of western South Dakota. It’s named after George Armstrong Custer, the guy who led an expedition here in 1874.
Gold fever hit hard back then. Now, tourists flock here instead of prospectors. The county’s home to some serious natural beauty. You’ve got Custer State Park, with its famous buffalo herds.
Then there’s the Crazy Horse Memorial, still a work in progress. You can’t miss Mount Rushmore nearby. The county seat, Custer, is a small town with a lot of character. Hiking, biking, fishing. You name it. This is the county to be.
