Hampshire County, West Virginia

Hampshire County is in the Eastern Panhandle, hugging the Virginia border. It’s West Virginia’s oldest county, dating all the way back to 1754. Romney, the county seat, has real character. Old buildings, small-town feel.
The South Branch Potomac River cuts right through it. It’s apple country. Orchards everywhere. Fall here is something special. The leaves, the harvest… It’s postcard perfect.
The Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad is a beautiful ride. Capon Bridge is worth a visit too. Small, but full of charm. Outdoor lovers will feel right at home. It’s quiet here. A good place to slow down.
