Jay County, Indiana
Jay County sits right on Indiana’s eastern border with Ohio. Portland, the county seat, is a small town located right in the middle of the county. US Route 27 is the main highway here.
This is prime farmland, with corn and soybeans as far as the eye can see. The Salamonie River cuts through the county, offering a bit of scenic relief from the flat landscape.
The people here are down-to-earth and proud of their agricultural heritage. It’s not a tourist hotspot, but Jay County has its own kind of thing going on.
