Kanabec County, Minnesota

About an hour north of the Twin Cities, you’ll find Kanabec County. Mora is the county seat, a town that takes its Swedish heritage seriously. They’ve even got a huge Dala horse statue downtown.
The Snake River winds through the county. It’s a very popular spot with canoeists and kayakers. Fishing’s big here, especially for smallmouth bass. Locals swear by Knife Lake for the best catch.
Ann Lake is the spot for swimming and picnicking. Lots of dairy farms out this way. You can’t beat the cheese curds from the local creameries.
