Kauai County, Hawaii
Kauai County covers the entire “Garden Isle” of Kauai, the oldest of Hawaii’s main islands. It’s a place of jaw-dropping natural beauty. The Na Pali Coast’s towering sea cliffs have starred in countless movies.
Waimea Canyon, nicknamed the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”, cuts deep into the island’s heart. Lush tropical forests blanket much of the landscape. Kauai gets tons of rain, especially on its north shore. This creates dozens of waterfalls and keeps everything green.
The island moves at a slower pace than Oahu or Maui. There are no buildings taller than a coconut tree. Chickens roam freely everywhere. Hanalei Bay offers perfect beaches and a laid-back surf town vibe. The main town of Lihue has a small airport and most of the county offices.
