La Paz County, Arizona

La Paz County is in western Arizona, along the Colorado River. It’s one of Arizona’s newest counties, formed as early as 1983. Parker is the county seat and largest town. The Colorado River Indian Reservation covers a large part of the county.
About 16,500 people live here full-time, but the population swells in winter with visitors escaping colder climates. Water sports are big here, with people boating and fishing on the Colorado River and Lake Havasu.
The landscape is mostly desert, with mountains in the east. Summers are extremely hot. But winters are mild and pleasant. Quartzsite, a small town in the county, hosts huge gem and mineral shows each winter.
