Lauderdale County, Tennessee

Lauderdale County hugs the Mississippi River in West Tennessee. It’s about an hour north of Memphis. Ripley, the county seat, is the biggest town around. But it’s still pretty small.
This is farm country. Soybeans, cotton, corn. If you can name it, they grow it. Fort Pillow State Historic Park is a must-see for visitors. It played a big role in the Civil War.
The Chickasaw Bluffs give some nice views of the river. The annual Lauderdale County Tomato Festival is a summer highlight. Folks here are proud of their tomatoes. And their catfish. Don’t forget the catfish.
