Rock Island County, Illinois

Rock Island County sits at the western edge of Illinois, right where the Mississippi and Rock rivers meet. The Quad Cities straddle the Mississippi here, with Rock Island and Moline on the Illinois side. It’s right next to Iowa, which is to the west of the Mississippi River.
This place is part industrial, part college town. Augustana College is situated in Rock Island. But manufacturing has been the backbone of the economy for generations. John Deere still has a major presence here. Outside the cities, you’ll find rolling hills and farmland.
The Rock Island Arsenal, an active military base, dominates the actual Rock Island. The Quad City International Airport connects the area to the wider world. Black Hawk State Historic Site is Native American history on display. There’s a lot to this county.
