Marion County, West Virginia

Marion Location Map West Virginia

The heart of West Virginia’s high-tech corridor beats in Marion County. It’s right in the north-central part of the state. The county has some serious natural beauty. Valley Falls State Park is a local favorite for hiking and picnicking.

Fairmont is the county seat and invented the first Pepperoni Roll. Yeah, you read that right. This tasty snack was invented here by Italian immigrants working the coal mines. Speaking of coal, the county’s history is steeped in it.

But these days, it’s all about the future. The county is home to Fairmont State University. Oh, and don’t forget about the Pricketts Fort State Park. It’s a living history museum that’ll take you back to frontier days.
