Morgan County, Tennessee

Morgan County is perched up in the eastern part of Tennessee, in the heart of Appalachia. Wartburg is the county seat. This place is all about the outdoors.
Frozen Head State Park is a local favorite because it’s great for hiking, camping, and more. The Obed Wild and Scenic River runs through the county. It’s a kayaker’s paradise.
The county has some interesting history too. Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary used to be here. It was actually a coal mine before. But now it’s a distillery and tourist attraction. Talk about a change, huh?
