Rhea County sits in eastern Tennessee, right along the Tennessee River. It’s home to the famous Scopes “Monkey” Trial of 1925. Dayton, the county seat, still celebrates this piece of history with an annual festival.
The county has some beautiful views of the Appalachian Mountains. Visitors love it here. There’s great fishing and boating on Watts Bar Lake. The Cherokee National Forest is nearby too, which is perfect for hiking and camping.
Rhea is a small county, but it has character. The people are friendly and down-to-earth. You’ll find a mix of old-timey charm and modern conveniences. Rhea’s also known for its strawberries. They even have a strawberry festival each May.
