Stephens County is located in northeast Georgia. It was established in 1905 and named after Alexander Stephens, who served as the Vice President of the Confederacy and later as Georgia’s governor.
Toccoa is the county seat and largest city. The name “Toccoa” comes from a Cherokee word meaning “beautiful”. The county has lots of natural beauty, including Toccoa Falls, a 186-foot waterfall on the campus of Toccoa Falls College.
