Taos County, New Mexico

Taos County is up in the high country of northern New Mexico, bordering Colorado. The city of Taos Pueblo has been continuously inhabited for over 1,000 years. Just let that sink in for a minute.
The Rio Grande Gorge cuts through the western part of the county. It’s breathtaking. Seriously. The town of Taos is an art colony and it has been for over a century. Georgia O’Keeffe, Ansel Adams, they all spent time here. You can see why.
The landscape is stunning. Taos Ski Valley is a big draw in winter. It’s steep and deep. The county has a strong hippie vibe. The Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway loops around Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico. It’s a hell of a drive.
