Conejos County, Colorado
Conejos County is in southern Colorado, right up against New Mexico. It’s mostly rural, with small towns scattered around. Manassa is the most populous, but it’s still pretty tiny.
The county is named after the Conejos River, good for fishing. But the Rio Grande runs along the eastern edge, which is also a nice spot. Farming and ranching are big here, especially sheep.
There’s a lot of Hispanic culture, going back to old Spanish land grants. The Rio Grande National Forest is a big tourist draw. The San Luis Valley spreads out to the north so the county is mostly flat and wide.
