Tazewell County, Illinois
Tazewell County stretches along the Illinois River along its western edge. The county is situated just southeast of Peoria. Pekin is the county seat and has a bit of a rough-and-tumble reputation.
Morton, another town in the county, calls itself the “Pumpkin Capital of the World.” This is because most of the canned pumpkins are produced here. They’re not kidding as the smell of pumpkins fill the air every fall.
This place is a mix of river towns and farmland. There’s more industry here compared to a lot of other rural Illinois counties. People here work hard and it goes to show.

Tazewell County features gently rolling farmland, typical of central Illinois. But the Illinois River Valley adds some elevation changes along its western edge. While most of the county is flat, the river bluffs create a more varied landscape near Pekin.
