Logan County, Illinois

Logan County sits in the middle of Illinois, about as heartland as it gets. Lincoln is the county seat. Yep, it’s named after Honest Abe. The world’s largest covered wagon is parked in Lincoln. It’s exactly as ridiculous as it sounds.
It’s mostly flat farmland, broken up by the occasional creek or patch of trees. Historic Route 66 used to run through here, and you can still catch glimpses of that old road trip magic.
Some folks commute to Springfield or Bloomington for work because it’s between both of them. You’ll find some great small-town diners if you know where to look. The Lincoln Balloon Festival brings in crowds of people every summer. It’s quiet out here and the stars are something else at night.
