Fulton County, Illinois
Fulton County is part of west-central Illinois, along the Illinois River to the east. Lewistown is the county seat, but Canton is the biggest town. You can feel the ghosts of old river towns that aren’t what they used to be.
It’s old river country, with bluffs and valleys you don’t expect in Illinois. The Spoon River runs through here. Yep, like the famous poems.
The fall colors are something else when the trees turn. Folks here love their hunting and fishing. Dickson Mounds Museum is a must-see if you’re into Native American history.
