Transylvania County is high in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. It’s known as the “Land of Waterfalls”. Over 250 waterfalls cascade through its forests.
Brevard is the county seat, which has a thriving arts scene. It’s also famous for its white squirrels. Really, they’re a thing. The county has deep ties to music with world-class performers.
Pisgah National Forest covers much of the county so it’s a bit of a playground for hikers and mountain bikers. DuPont State Recreational Forest is another local treasure because several Hollywood movies have filmed scenes there.
