Unicoi County is a beautiful region in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Tennessee. Erwin, the county seat, sits in a valley surrounded by stunning peaks.
The Nolichucky River rushes through here, drawing rafters and kayakers from all over. It’s outdoor paradise. Hikers com to this section of the Appalachian Trail. Nature lovers can’t get enough of places like Rocky Fork State Park.
The area’s known for its apple orchards. Nothing beats Unicoi apples in the fall, which you can taste at the annual Apple Festival. The Cherokee National Forest occupies the entire county.
