Greene County, Tennessee

Greene County is up in the northeast corner of Tennessee, next to North Carolina. Greeneville is the county seat, which was home to Andrew Johnson. You can still visit his old tailor shop.
The county has a strong agricultural heritage, with tobacco being a big crop for years. These days, you’ll find a mix of farming and industry. The Nolichucky River runs through here with some great spots for kayaking and fishing.
Fall’s a beautiful time to visit, with the leaves changing in the nearby mountains. Cherokee National Forest occupies the southeast. There’s a growing arts scene in some of the small towns. Appalachian culture is still alive and well, but new ideas are always welcome.
