US Counties

Fall River County is in the southwestern corner of South Dakota. Hot Springs, the county seat, lives up to its name with warm mineral springs.

Faulk County sits right in the middle of South Dakota. It’s named after Andrew Jackson Faulk, the third governor of Dakota Territory.

Grant County is up in the northeastern corner of South Dakota, bordering Minnesota to the east. It’s mostly dairy country here.

Gregory County hugs the Missouri River in south-central South Dakota. It’s a sportsman’s paradise. Hunting, fishing, boating.

Wide-open spaces define the landscape of Haakon County in central South Dakota. It’s ranching country, pure and simple.

Hand County is right in the middle of South Dakota. It’s named after George Hand. Miller is the county seat in the center of the county.

Hamlin County sits in eastern South Dakota, near the Minnesota border. It’s definitely lake country. You’ll also find some great camping.

Hanson County is in southeastern South Dakota. It’s not big, but it’s got heart. Alexandria, the county seat, has a cool old opera house.

Harding County is way out in the northwest corner of South Dakota. It’s so big in area that it’s larger than Rhode Island or Delaware.

Hughes County sits right in the heart of South Dakota. Pierre, the state capital, calls this county home. Oahe Dam is here.

Hutchinson County sits in the southeast part of South Dakota. Farming is the main economy with lots of corn, soybeans, and cattle.

Hyde County is right in the middle of South Dakota. It’s open country. Big sky. Not many people live here with maybe 1,300 total.

Jackson County is out in southwest South Dakota. The Badlands National Park spills into the county’s western edge.

Jerauld County is one of those places you might drive right through without realizing it. It’s located right in the middle of South Dakota.

Jones County is close to the middle of the state. It’s wide open country. It’s the kind that makes you feel small. But in a good way.
