US Counties

Ottawa County is in north-central Kansas, with Minneapolis as the county seat (not to be confused with the one in Minnesota).

Pawnee County is in central Kansas, with Larned as the biggest town. The Arkansas River runs through it, but it’s often more sand than water.

Phillips County is up in north-central Kansas, right on the Nebraska border. Phillipsburg is the county seat and it’s pretty rural out here.

Pottawatomie County is in northeast Kansas, with Westmoreland as the county seat. It has a mix of rolling hills and farmland.

Pratt County is in south-central Kansas, with Pratt as its main city. It’s mostly flat farmland, but there’s more going on here than you think.

Rawlins County is way up in northwest Kansas, with Atwood as the county seat. It’s rural Kansas with farming and ranching as key industries.

Reno County is in south-central Kansas, with Hutchinson as its largest city. It has a mix of urban and rural, with most of the city amenities.

Republic County is in north-central Kansas, right on the Nebraska border, with Belleville as the county seat.

Rice County is right in the heart of central Kansas, where the fields stretch out wide and the towns are small but full of life.

Riley County is in northeastern Kansas, home to Manhattan and Kansas State University. Fort Riley, a big army base, is partly in the county.

Rooks County sits in north-central Kansas, with Stockton as the county seat. It’s pretty rural, with farming and ranching as main industries.

Rush County is in central Kansas, with just under 3,000 people. Similar to most of Kansas, it’s mostly flat farmland with some gentle hills.

Russell County is in central Kansas, with the city of Russell as its seat.  The county is known as the hometown of former Senator Bob Dole.

Saline County is a hub of activity in central Kansas. The town of Salina serves as the county seat and the heart of the area.

Scott County is out in western Kansas, with Scott City as the county seat. It’s pretty flat and rural out here. Farming is important here.
