Woods County, Oklahoma

Woods County occupies the northwestern region of Oklahoma, where the high plains meet the Red Hills. It’s rugged country. The county seat is Alva and is home to Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
Ranching is big business here. So is wheat farming. The Glass Mountains, despite their name, are actually mesas capped with a glittering selenite crystal layer. They’re a sight to behold.
Alabaster Caverns State Park boasts the world’s largest gypsum cave open to the public. Little Sahara State Park boasts over 1,600 acres of sand dunes. The Cimarron River forms the southern border. Woods County has a raw, untamed beauty all its own.
