Candler County, Georgia
Candler County is a small slice of rural Georgia. It’s tucked away in the east-central part of the state, about halfway between Augusta and Savannah. Metter serves as the county seat, a town that proudly claims to be “Everything’s Better in Metter”.
The county is named after Allen Candler, a former Georgia governor. Farming’s still big here. Think cotton, peanuts, and timber. The Canoochee River cuts through, offering decent fishing if you know where to look.
Folks in Candler County know their neighbors and like it that way. You won’t find any big attractions, but you might find some peace and quiet. It’s the kind of place where Friday night football is still a thing and sweet tea flows freely.
