Virginia Counties

Richmond County lies in Virginia’s Northern Neck, bordered by the Rappahannock River. It’s not the Richmond you’re thinking of.

Roanoke is located in southwestern Virginia, nestled in the Roanoke Valley and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The Blue Ridge Mountains provide a backdrop to Roanoke County. It wraps around the county. The independent city of Roanoke is in the middle.

Rockbridge County is pure Shenandoah Valley beauty between the Shenandoah and Allegheny mountains. The county is named after Natural Bridge.

Rockingham County is right in the middle of the Shenandoah Valley. It’s one of Virginia’s top agricultural producers.

Russell County is located in Southwest Virginia. It’s coal country, with a rugged beauty all its own, including Jefferson National Forest.

Salem is located in southwestern Virginia, surrounded by the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. The city sits just north of Roanoke.

Scott County lies in the far southwestern corner of Virginia. It has the Appalachian mountains, valleys, and more trees than you can count.

The Shenandoah Valley is something special, and right in the middle of it all is Shenandoah County. It’s in the northwestern part of Virginia

Smyth County is right in the heart of southwest Virginia. It’s where the mountains meet the sky and the people are as genuine as they come.

Southampton County sits in southeastern Virginia, right on the North Carolina border. It’s a place with deep roots and deep stories.

Spotsylvania County is halfway between Washington D.C. and Richmond. The county has seen four major Civil War battles fought here.

Stafford County is just south of Washington D.C. It’s been around since 1664, making it one of the oldest counties in Virginia.

Staunton is in the Shenandoah Valley of western Virginia, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. It lies along the banks of the Lewis Creek.

Suffolk is located in southeastern Virginia. It lies along the banks of the Nansemond River and is close to the Great Dismal Swamp.
