Clinch County, Georgia
Clinch County is way down in the state’s southeast corner, bordering Florida. Homerville serves as the county seat at the intersection of Highway 84 and 441. The county is named after General Duncan Lamont Clinch, who fought in the Seminole Wars.
Clinch is big on size. Real big. It’s Georgia’s fourth-largest county by area, but most of it is swampland and pine forest. The Okefenokee Swamp takes up a good chunk of the eastern side.
Clinch County isn’t for everyone. It’s quiet, remote, and a bit wild. Folks here like their peace and quiet. If you’re looking for excitement, keep driving. But if you want to see what old Georgia looked like, Clinch County is about as close as you’ll get.
