Ware County, Georgia
Ware County is the largest county in Georgia by land area. It’s down in the southeast corner of the state, home to a big chunk of the Okefenokee Swamp. Alligators outnumber people in some parts.
Folks here eat, sleep, and breathe the outdoors. The Okefenokee Swamp Park is a must-visit for gator spotting and boat tours. But Laura S. Walker State Park is a quieter outdoor experience.
The swamp draws tourists, but timber is the backbone of the local economy. You can smell the pine in the air. Summers are hot and buggy, winters mild. The Waycross City Auditorium keeps culture alive in these parts. Ware County is alive and kicking.
