Hunt County is in northeast Texas. Greenville is the county seat, pretty much in the center of the county. The county has a mix of farmland and growing suburbs.

Cotton was king here once upon a time. These days, it’s more diverse. Lake Tawakoni is popular for fishing. It pretty much occupies the southeast region of the county.

The county fair draws crowds every fall. The Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum is a hit. It’s a place in transition, balancing its rural roots with new growth.

This county lies on the edge of the Blackland Prairie. The land rises and falls gently, shaped by shallow creek valleys and grassy uplands. Elevation changes are minor but steady. The overall feel is open, wide, and a bit breezy. It’s good land for both plows and pastures.

Hunt County has a rectangular shape with a few indentations along the southern border. It doesn’t border another state, just sits northeast of Dallas. The edges are mostly survey lines, though one or two creeks push the lines a bit. It’s easy to spot in that stretch between city and countryside.
