Mecklenburg County, Virginia

Mecklenburg County stretches along the Virginia-North Carolina border in the southern part of the state. It’s lake country here. Clarksville sits right on the water and bills itself as Virginia’s only lakeside town.
Buggs Island Lake (officially called Kerr Lake) is a massive reservoir here. The lake’s so big, it has 800 miles of shoreline, bringing in anglers and boaters from all over.
South Hill, the largest town, has seen better days. But it’s working on a comeback. The county has a rich history. It was the first in the nation to declare independence from Britain. This is actually still being disputed.
